For pilates and yoga studios
Glow Line for pilates and yoga studios
Regulars book their classes online, so the phone is mostly people who have never been: what a first class costs, which one suits a beginner, whether they need grip socks. They ring while you are cueing a reformer class of eight. Glow Line answers from your class list and notes, takes a request for a first class and texts you when the class ends.
Incoming call, Monday 6:20 pm
- Hi, I have never done reformer. Do you have an intro offer?
- Thanks for calling Reedbank Pilates. Three intro reformer classes are $69. Beginner classes run Monday at 6 pm, Wednesday at 9:30 am and Saturday at 8 am.
- Saturday suits. I hurt my lower back last year, is that a problem?
- The instructor will answer that before you book. Can I take your name and mobile for a Saturday 8 am request? They will text you.
First class request Sent to the studio with her name, mobile, Saturday at 8 am and her question.
What gets in the way for pilates and yoga studios
You teach with your voice
Fifty minutes of cueing a full room leaves no gap for the phone at the front desk. It rings out, and the caller may well have been someone new who wanted to ask before trying a class.
New people have the most questions
Intro offers, what to wear, grip socks, whether reformer suits a complete beginner. Write the answers in notes and the assistant gives them. Anything about an injury or a pregnancy goes to the instructor instead.
The timetable is not the opening hours
Hours are set for the studio as a whole, so put class times in notes, for example beginner reformer on Monday at 6 pm, Wednesday at 9:30 am and Saturday at 8 am. The assistant reads them out when asked.
Class requests, not class bookings
The assistant cannot see who has taken which reformer. It takes a request for a class and you confirm the spot by text, or send your class booking link if you keep one.
A worked example
Pilates and yoga studio work, with Glow Line
Reedbank Pilates has eight reformers, a mat room and two instructors, with regulars booking through the studio's own class app. The list on Glow Line has six services: an intro offer of three reformer classes at $69, a casual reformer class at $35 for 50 minutes, a mat pilates class at $25 for 45 minutes, slow flow yoga at $25 for 60 minutes, a ten-class reformer pack at $300, and a private reformer session at $95 for 55 minutes. Notes list the beginner times, say to arrive ten minutes early for a first class, say grip socks are needed and sold at the desk for $15, say the ten-class pack lasts four months, and carry one line the owner wrote: questions about an injury or a pregnancy are answered by an instructor before you book.
On a Monday at 6:20 pm, twenty minutes into the evening reformer class, a caller asks whether there is an intro offer for someone who has never done reformer. The assistant gives the $69 offer for three classes and reads the beginner times. She picks Saturday at 8 am, then mentions a lower back injury from last year. The assistant says the instructor will answer that before she books, and takes her name, mobile and the Saturday request. At 7:05 pm the instructor reads the text, rings her for five minutes about the injury, and confirms Saturday with a note to bring grip socks or buy a pair at the desk.
In the studio's first month on Glow Line the line answered 26 calls. Fifteen were people asking about a first class, six were regulars with app questions, and five were messages for the owner. That is well inside Line's 40 answered calls at $29 a month, which is less than one intro offer.
Questions from pilates and yoga studios
Can it see our class timetable or who has booked?
It knows the class times you write in notes, not who has booked. It takes a request for a class and you confirm the spot by text, so it never promises a reformer that is already taken.
Does it replace our class booking app?
No. Glow Line does not connect to any booking system. Keep your app for regulars and let the line catch the callers, often new people, who would rather ask a question first.
What does it say about injuries or pregnancy?
Nothing beyond what you wrote. Questions about an injury, a pregnancy or a health condition go to an instructor; the assistant says the team will confirm and passes the question on in your text.
Can I list a ten-class pack or an intro offer?
Yes. A pack is a service with one price; give it the length of a single class. Write how long the pack lasts in notes so the assistant can say it when asked.
