Glow Line for piercing studios

Piercers work gloved over a clean setup, and the phone rings for prices by placement, whether a fifteen-year-old can be pierced, and whether Saturday is walk-in. Glow Line answers from your piercing list, your jewellery prices and your rules on age and ID, takes the request and texts you once the gloves are off.

Incoming call, Wednesday 3:45 pm

  1. My daughter is fifteen and wants a second lobe and a helix. Can you do that?
  2. Thanks for calling Bright Hoop Piercing. Under 18s need a parent or guardian there, and both bring photo ID. A lobe is $40 and a helix $50, plus jewellery.
  3. That is fine. Saturday afternoon if you can.
  4. I will request Saturday afternoon for both piercings. Can I take your name and mobile? The studio will text you to confirm.

Booking request Sent to the studio with her name, mobile, both piercings and the age noted.

What gets in the way for piercing studios

Gloves on, setup open

Once the needle and jewellery are opened and the gloves are on, answering the phone means a fresh pair and a fresh setup. Many piercers let it ring, and the caller may well try the next studio.

Parents ring about age and ID

Whatever your rule is for under 18s, write it in notes exactly as you want it said: the age, the ID you need and whether a parent must attend. The assistant repeats your rule and adds nothing to it.

Price is placement plus jewellery

Callers hear one number and expect it to be the total. List each placement with its fee and put your starting jewellery price in notes, so the assistant gives both and nobody is surprised at the counter.

Walk-ins, downsizes and changes

Callers ask whether Saturday is walk-in and whether a downsize needs a booking. Put your walk-in times and your rule for jewellery changes in notes. The assistant answers those, and booking requests come through for everything else.

A worked example

Piercing studio work, with Glow Line

Bright Hoop Piercing has two piercers in an arcade off a main street, open Tuesday to Saturday, with walk-ins on Saturday from 10 am to 1 pm. The list on Glow Line has nine services: lobe at $40, helix at $50, conch at $60, tragus at $55, nostril at $50, septum at $60 and navel at $60, each for 20 minutes, plus a downsize or jewellery change at $20 for 15 minutes and a piercing check-up at $0 for 10 minutes. Notes say piercing fees do not include jewellery, implant-grade titanium studs start at $35, clients under 18 need a parent or guardian with them and both bring photo ID, and that any question about healing or a sore piercing is answered by a piercer, who will call back.

On a Wednesday at 3:45 pm, with both piercers mid-piercing, a mother rings. Her daughter is fifteen and wants a second lobe piercing and a helix for her birthday. The assistant reads the under-18 rule, gives the two fees and says jewellery starts at $35 a piece. It takes the mother's name, mobile, both piercings and a preference for Saturday afternoon, after the walk-in session. A piercer reads the text between clients and replies with Saturday at 1:30 pm and a reminder about photo ID for both of them.

With two titanium studs, the visit comes to $40 plus $50 plus $70 for jewellery, $160 in all. The studio gets fewer calls than a busy salon: the line answers about 25 a month, which sits inside Line's 40 at $29 a month with room to spare.

Questions from piercing studios

Can it explain our rules for clients under 18?

Yes, exactly as you write them in notes: the age, the ID and who must come along. It does not interpret them or make exceptions, so write the rule the way you want every caller to hear it.

Will it answer aftercare questions about a sore piercing?

No. A healing question is for a piercer. The assistant says the team will confirm, and the caller's number arrives in your text so you can ring back. Your written aftercare sheet stays yours to hand out.

We are mostly walk-in. Is the line worth it?

If callers mostly ask whether you are open and what things cost, the line answers that from your list and you read the text later. If walk-ins fill the day and the phone rarely rings, the free booking page may be all you need.

Can it quote a particular piece of jewellery?

Only prices you have written. Put a starting price in notes, or list your common pieces as services. It will not guess the cost of a piece it has not been told about.

Give the phone to someone who only says what you told them

Set up your services and hours, share the booking page, and add the line when you are ready. Free to start, no card.
